Chelsea to make new bid for Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea are planning to make a new bid for Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku, according to . The 2021 Champions League winners’ second offer of £85 million plus Marcos Alonso for the former Manchester United striker was turned down.

However, Chelsea are determined to secure the services of the Belgium international striker they signed from Anderlecht in 2011 before selling him to Everton in 2014. The Blues are looking for a top-class striker and have identified the 28-year-old as their main target.

Lukaku helped Inter win Serie A last season, scoring and providing 11 assists in the process. The 28-year-old scored and gave two assists in Serie A in 2019-20. The Belgian striker scored 113 goals in 252 matches in the Premier League.

From Messi showdowns, Barcelona derbies to life under Pep and Poch – Meet Western United´s Sanchez

Sanchez is among the growing number of Spaniards moving to Australia after former Espanyol team-mate Lopez also joined Adelaide United.

Former Athletic Bilbao pair Markel Susaeta and Benat have reunited at Macarthur FC for their inaugural season, while ex-Getafe attacker Diego Castro continues to star with Perth Glory.

I didn t know much about the A-League, Sanchez said. When I had the chance to come here I started looking at it and I also spoke with people that had played here: with Juande that was in Perth, with Markel Susaeta that was in Melbourne City last year, [former Western Sydney Wanderers striker] Oriol Riera and [former Melbourne Victory midfielder] Raul Baena.

Footballers that have played here and everyone was telling me the same thing, that it is a…

Chelsea linked with Dario Osorio

Chelsea are interested in signing Dario Osorio from Universidad de Chile, according to . The report has claimed that former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea are among the clubs who have scouted Osorio this season.

Osorio has been on the books of Universidad de Chile since 2015 and is rated as one of the best young players in Chile. The 18-year-old midfielder is hugely talented and could develop into one of the best players in the world in the coming years. The teenager has already played twice for the Chile national football team.

If Chelsea are to be successful in their quest to sign Osorio, then they have to beat a number of clubs to the signature of the teenager compared to compatriots Arturo Vidal and Gary Medel. Manchester City, Liverpool, R…

Chelsea ´made to suffer´ as Potter and Mount praise goalkeeper hero Kepa

Chelsea coach Graham Potter said Aston Villa made his side suffer as both he and goalscorer Mason Mount paid tribute to Kepa Arrizabalaga s masterful performance in their 2-0 victory.

The Blues kept their unbeaten record under the former Brighton and Hove Albion boss with a Premier League win at Villa Park, secured through Mount s brace.

But the visitors spent long stretches on the ropes, particularly in the first half, by a relentless slew of counter-attacks from Steven Gerrard s side, with Kepa called upon to make a flurry of superb saves.

Having stepped into the starting line-up at the end of Thomas Tuchel s tenure to replace the injured Edouard Mendy, the Spaniard has kept his place amid excellent form, and Potter was quick to hail him as key to their victory…

Postecoglou blasts ´worst defeat´ of his tenure after Spurs collapse

A fuming Ange Postecoglou brandished Tottenham s collapse against Brighton as the nadir of his Premier League tenure after Sunday s 3-2 defeat.

Brennan Johnson s well-taken opener marked his sixth goal in as many games across all competitions before James Maddison s first-half finish had Spurs leading 2-0 at the break on the south coast.

However, Fabian Hurzeler s hosts managed a remarkable turnaround as Georginio Rutter levelled after Yankuba Minteh s strike, before Danny Welbeck completed a remarkable turnaround just past the hour.

It was just the second time that Tottenham lost a Premier League game they led by two goals in their last 166 such matches (W159 D5), and Postecoglou fumed at the full-time whistle.

The Tottenham manager said on Sky Sports: …

Huuhkajat are in dire form in the 2024–25 UEFA Nations League B at the moment. Finland are at the foot of Group 2 with no points from two matches. The Republic of Ireland have also lost their two game…

Atletico shift Saul out on loan to LaLiga rivals Sevilla

Saul Niguez has moved from Atletico Madrid on loan to Sevilla with the option of an extension after the 2024-25 campaign.

Both LaLiga clubs confirmed the transfer agreement on Monday, with each side referencing the possibility of an extension past the upcoming season.

The 29-year-old has started just 25 La Liga games across the last two seasons for Atletico, who are reportedly keen to reduce their expenditure on their first-team squad salary.

Reports in Spain suggest the midfielder has a three-year offer from league rivals Sevilla, though a complex transfer means the deal cannot be described as a purchase option with the possibility of a return to Atletico.

Dalic success beyond wildest dreams as he targets greatest result in Croatia´s history

Croatia s journey to successive World Cup semi-finals is beyond head coach Zlatko Dalic s wildest dreams.

Dalic was appointed in October 2017 when Croatia were in danger of missing out on the 2018 World Cup, his debut win over Ukraine in the final qualification group game securing second place.

Initially, Dalic said he would not remain in charge if Croatia failed to reach Russia 2018, but a 4-1 aggregate play-off defeat of Greece sealed their spot in the draw.

Dalic ultimately led the Valtreni to their first World Cup final – a 4-2 defeat to France denied them a famous maiden title, but their achievement remained significant.

Expectations of Croatia from neutrals ahead of Qatar 2022 were nowhere near as lofty, yet successive penalty shoot-out defeats of…

Western Sydney Wanderers 0 Adelaide United 0: Leaders held to kick off 2016

A-League leaders Western Sydney Wanderers were held to a 0-0 draw by Adelaide United in their first match of 2016.

The Wanderers second draw in three games means their lead at the top is now just three points over Brisbane Roar – who have a game in hand while the visitors stay seventh having missed the chance to jump into the top six, but are now unbeaten in their last five games.

While there were no goals, there were plenty of chances – and a tinge of controversy – with both sides denied what looked good shouts for a penalty in the first half.

Adelaide were aggrieved when Michael Marrone went down under Nikolai Topor-Stanley s challenge, with no penalty awarded, while the Wanderers were denied a spot-kick at the other end when Dylan McGowan felled Mark Br…
