Hoping to make an immediate return to winning ways on Tuesday night, Juventus will welcome a high-flying Leece to Turin.
Juventus
Starting with the hosts, while Juventus might have marked their return from September’s international break with a stellar 3-1 romp at home against Lazio, the Old Lady certainly came crashing back down to earth over the weekend. Putting in a nightmare performance away at Sassuolo as they eventually fell to an action-packed 4-2 defeat, the former Italian champions are seeking an immediate response here. Watching their four-match Serie A unbeaten run come to an abrupt end, Massimiliano Allegri s side will certainly be excited by the prospect of making a return to Turin on Tuesday night. Making it clear that they must clinch a top-four return this time around, Juventus still hold a fearsome reputation for their continued success on home soil. Including that eye-catching 3-1 victory against Lazio on September 16th, Allegri s men have lost just a trio of their previous 24 Serie A showdowns in front of their own supporters a run that stems back to April 2022.
Team News
Still dealing with a recent thigh injury and not featuring since returning from September’s international break, Juventus should once again be without Alex Sandro here. The Brazilian international will be joined on the sidelines by long-term absentee Mattia De Sciglio.
Notching four goals in his opening five Serie A appearances this season, attacking talisman Dusan Vlahovic will spearhead Juve’s charge on Tuesday night. Likewise, now finding the net in each of his previous three straight domestic appearances, 25-year-old Federico Chiesa will have a key role to play in midweek.
Leece
As for the visitors, while Leece might have found themselves firmly at the heart of a relegation scrap last season, the Giallorossi have come flying out of the traps this time around. Making a string of improvements over the summer break and with the mood in Roberto D Aversa’s camp at a red-hot high, the Apulia-based outfit have certainly gained a string of plaudits. Last seen over the weekend putting in another rugged performance as they claimed a 1-0 victory at home against Genoa, the Salentians currently find themselves sat third in the Serie A standings and riding a real wave of momentum. Opening the 2023/24 campaign with another stellar display on August 20th as they clinched a famous 2-1 win against Lazio, the former Sampdoria boss is yet to see his high-flying squad suffer a single defeat from their opening five Serie A showdown. While Leece might be tipped as a landslide underdog when they arrive in Turin on Tuesday night, some in D Aversa’s squad could be smelling the chance to spring a remarkable upset.
Team News
Missing out against Genoa over the weekend after serving a one-match suspension, defender Federico Baschirotto could be handed a full recall here. However, still yet to make a single appearance since opening up the new campaign, former Parma star Kastriot Dermaku is not expected to feature in Turin.
Coming off the bench and bagging a late winner against Genoa a few days ago, 26-year-old Remi Oudin will be hoping to lead Leece’s charge on Tuesday night. Arriving from Turkish outfit Basaksehir this summer, Ahmed Touba will once again partner Marin Pongracic at the back.
